Sunday 6th December saw the annual Santa Walk organized by Maria and the Pink Ladies/Panthers to raise money for the AECC, a fantastic 1,045 euros was raised. Over 120 entrants gathered at Zenia Boulevard from 10am, with everyone in Santa fancy dress, even the doggies, and listening to Christmas carols sung by TAABS, making it a very christmassy start to the festive season. The walk started with a circuit of the Boulevard led by Maria honking her horn, in her wheelchair, pushed by her husband Carl, then it was out on to the local roads to complete the 5km circuit. The volunteer marshals and local police did an outstanding job keeping all the walkers on the right road and many of the locals took time to admire the sea of Santas, put money in the buckets and cheer the crowd on their way. On their return the walkers were greeted by some great music from Simon Morton of Sunshine FM and more Christmas carols sung by TAABS. In addition to the 5€ for registration, walkers brought along dried and tinned food items to help the Torrevieja based homeless charity, Reach Out.
